B2B Trade Area of Taipei Game Show, criticized by trade buyers last year, but accompanied with 2008 Taiwan Digital Content Forum, moved to the second floor at Taipei World Trade Center for world-wide participants with a better exchange atmosphere this year.

Not only local OBMs (Softstar Entertainment, Soft-World International Corp., International Games System Corp., …, etc.) but also companies from New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea showcased different specialists with multiple styles. Especially on South Korea, participated members from G? Trade Show (Game Show & Trade, All-Round, aka Gstar) showcased gaming industry of South Korea and the G? upcoming at this November with brochures.

In the 2-days Digital Content Forum, world-class experts not only shared industry experiences, members from Taiwan Gaming Industry Association also discussed and forecasted marketing models for gaming industry. With participations from governmental, industrial, and academical executives world-wide, this forum helps them gained precious experiences of digital content industry from several countries.

According to the Taipei Computer Association, the show and forum organizer, the digital content industry in Taiwan was apparently grown up recent years as Minister of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China Steve Ruey-long Chen said at Opening Ceremony yesterday. Without R&Ds from cyber-gaming, and basic conceptions from policies and copyright issues, this (digital content) industry will be fallen down in Taiwan. If this industry wanted to be grown up in sustainability, gaming OBMs in Taiwan should independently produce different and unique games and change market style to market brands and games to the world.

Sometimes, buying dog food in mass quantities is one of the best ways to save money. However, if not stored properly, spoiling, mold, and insect infestation can be a consequence. So much for saving all that money! This is where the beauty of dog food bins come in.

With the proper kind of bin to store your dog food in, the efforts of your buying in bulk will not go to waste, nor will your money. And while you may not think about keeping insects out, fruit flies and ants are infamous for feasting on open dog food and rapidly multiplying and causing a nuisance.

Another benefit to dog food containers is that they help keep odors out of the dog food. While this may not bother some dogs, many others are very picky. And what a waste of money if your dog will not even eat the food. These bins also are great at keeping your dog from getting into a bag of food. They even help with toddlers around, as they are always trying to ‘help out’ and can end up wasting a lot of dog food. Dog food storage containers should be airtight to keep the food fresh and are the ideal way to store lots of dog food.

Dog food storage come in many sizes, from small treat storing size, to large enough to handle 80 pounds of dog food. Many of the large and extra large containers are even on wheels so you can get to them and store them easier. With wheels, you can store your large bin in the back of the pantry, but still be able to pull it easily out when it is time to feed your dogs.

There are several options for materials for the bins. The majority of the bins are made from plastic, although there are also quite a few out there made from wood and different types of metal. For those tight on space, or feeding multiple dogs different foods, there are even stackable bins. Others still are made to be stored on shelves, making it easy for you to access, but very difficult for your dogs. To fill your dog’s bowl, the smaller containers are easy to pour from, while the larger containers are big enough to handle a measuring scoop.

For the greatest selection, your best bet is to look online, although many pet superstores also carry a wide array of dog food storage bins. Either way, these bins are very affordable.

Whether you decide to empty the whole bag of dog food in the storage canister or empty the contents out is entirely up to you. However, if you empty out the bag of dog food, you need to realize that bits of the dog food and oils will linger on the sides and bottom of the container. This means you need to clean the container out between bags – so look for a canister with a large enough opening that it is easy to clean. Otherwise, oils and food particles left on the walls and bottom will eventually spoil and foul the rest of the dog food.

Police in the United Kingdom are now testing the use of “spy drones” in the skies over the country in a bid to stop criminal activity.

The drone will be equipped with cameras linked to CCTV, and will be only one meter in width and will weigh 2 to 3 pounds. The camera will be able to take images of the surrounding area as far away as 500 meters and at an altitude of almost 2,000 feet. It is powered by batteries and is reported to look much like a “miniature helicopter.”

The operator views the output via a head mounted display and uses this to control the aircraft.

“It is a cost-effective way to deal with situations where you have to deploy a lot of officers,” said a Merseyside Police Force spokeswoman, Louise Burton.

The drone was originally built for military use.

What does it take to become a model?

by

Rick Martin

If you are an attractive, talented, persistent and highly motivated person, then you have the qualities required to become a model. Many Toronto male models, Toronto female models and, lately, more and more Toronto kids choose a career in the fashion bizz, equally fascinated by the glamour and magic of this spectacular world, and the substantial paychecks.

Modeling agencies are constantly looking for new talents, future Toronto male models and Toronto female models, to enrich their portfolios. Model searches are one way of being discovered and to be picked up by an agent for representation or to get headed in the right direction. Practically anyone can show up at the model searches organized by diverse talent management companies, but not just anyone would have the prospect to be selected for representation by an agency.

The modeling industry established certain beauty standards that have been adopted by all modeling agencies as selection criteria. For instance, there are two types of models: glamour, illustrated by a round shaped face, angelic, charming look, and grunge, referring mainly to a sharp angular face, with prominent cheeks. In order to step on the catwalk, Toronto male models and Toronto female models need to have a pleasant look, a thin body line, especially for presentations, and minimal height of 58 (170 cm) for Toronto girl models and 6 (180 cm) for Toronto boy models. Also, measurements should be anywhere from 34-36 bust, 23-25 waist and 34-36 hips (or 90-60-90 translated in cm). Still, the world of modeling is full of surprises and non-conformities. One good example of how rules can be broken is Kate Moss (grunge type) and her catwalk sessions, although she is only 1.69 cm tall. So, you never know your luck!

Another way of getting your modeling career launched is through a model book or portfolio. You want your model portfolio to be professional, complete and impressive when you show it. An awesome Toronto female model portfolio should include a good selection of different types of looks, between 10 to 25 photos normally consisting of 9 x 12 prints. You need to include commercial, fashion, casual and editorial content shots. The minimal acceptable model books need to include a headshot of yourself smiling and one not smiling, a full length body shot, natural make-up and hair-off face. Headshots and full length body shots, preferably swimwear, are mandatory for any Toronto male model portfolio.

A professional photographer or agent can assist you in the most delicate matter of model book quality, so ask for advice whenever you have second thoughts. First-class model talent agencies, such as Susan J. Talent Model & Talent Management in Toronto, are always looking for the next biggest discovery to add to their agencys credits. So, theyll be more than happy to analyze your portfolio and give a quick answer whether or not you are heading the right direction. Modeling training courses, although not compulsory, are always an important asset when it comes to first impression, especially for Toronto female model and Toronto kids. Agencies recommend on camera testing and training, particularly for the models applying for larger markets, such as the top NY agencies.

And the experts words always count, since their job is to recognize and groom new talents to succeed in the world of modeling. The relationship between agency and models is a contractual one, which clearly specifies parties obligations and rights, including here the agencys obligation to promote and represent the model in good faith and efficiently, contracts duration, payment terms and conditions, the models seriousness and implication in specific activities, as well as termination clauses. Any Toronto male model, Toronto female model and Toronto child model should be aware of all these aspects before signing the contract.

One thing stands out crystal clear: strength of character, determination and self-control need to be paired by reputable talent management services, including industry placement and training, done by highly selective agencies in scouting, reviewing and promoting

Pichilemu, Chile — Last Saturday, Chile was hit by a 8.8 earthquake. Many coastal towns were also hit by a tsunami, and Pichilemu was one of them. Its inhabitants were surprised by the giant waves that destroyed the most of the costanera and that reached the city square.

Pichilemu, that means in Mapudungun language small forest, is one of the most famous Chilean resort towns in the central zone of Chile. It is recurrently visited by surfers from all the world, because the Punta de Lobos beach is considered one of the best for surf practice worldwide.

Central Pichilemu was not severely damaged by the earthquake, but the tsunami caused significant destruction. The Fishermen Creek, located in front of the beach, was completely destroyed, and its machines are now unusable. Most of the Agustín Ross architecture that characterized the city, three of them being National Monuments of Chile, were damaged. The Agustín Ross Mirador, a famous location in front of the beach, located less than 200 meters from the Fisherman Creek, was completely destroyed. Its famous balustrades were washed away or thrown asunder. Many restaurants, kiosks and a circus were affected by the tsunami.

The rural parts of Pichilemu, like Ciruelos, Rodeillo and Espinillo feature houses constructed from adobe. Many were more than 100-years old, and were destroyed or are now uninhabitable.

The most powerful aftershock was produced almost 40 kilometers in front of the coast of Pichilemu, at the 03:10 local time (07:10 UTC) in March 2, with an intensity of 5.5 in the Richter scale, according to the USGS.

The Intendant of the O’Higgins Region, Juan Núñez, had a meeting with the Governor of the Cardenal Caro Province, Loreto Puebla, the Mayor of Pichilemu, Roberto Córdova, and naval and military authorities, juntas de vecinos representatives. They decided to leave the Carabineros police force to maintain the security of the city.

A Pembroke Pines, Florida teenager killed himself Wednesday, November 19, while broadcasting on the live video site Justin.tv. After making suicide threats and being encouraged by Justin.tv viewers and Bodybuilding.com forum members, Abraham K. Biggs, 19, committed suicide by taking an overdose of opiates and benzodiazepine, which had been prescribed for his bipolar disorder.

Biggs first began blogging about his planned suicide 12 hours before the actual event. He died after taking pills and lying on the bed in front of the webcam. After the broadcast, viewers who apparently thought it was a hoax posted messages such as “OMG”, “LOL”, and “hahahah”.

Hours later, after being alerted by viewers who had noticed that Biggs had stopped breathing, law enforcement and paramedics arrived, discovered his body, and covered the camera. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office has reportedly confirmed Biggs’ death.

According to Montana Miller of the Bowling Green State University, the circumstances of this case were not shocking: “If it’s not recorded or documented, then it doesn’t even seem worthwhile. For today’s generation it might seem, ‘What’s the point of doing it if everyone isn’t going to see it?'”

Biggs’ sister Rosalind was angry that neither the website nor its viewers reacted soon enough to save him. “They got hits, they got viewers, nothing happened for hours,” she said. She described him as “very happy” and “friendly and outgoing.” “On a normal day, you couldn’t really tell that he got as low as he did.” However, he did have relationship problems with his girlfriend, according to a friend.

Mental health professionals have warned about the possibility that other mentally troubled people would copy his actions. According to Dr. David Shaffer of Columbia University, “Any video showing it as heroic or romantic or glamorous could reduce the anxiety people might feel about suicide. It becomes a respectable behavior and lowers the threshold of suicide.” He and other psychiatrists recommend that potentially suicidal teens talk to others and “tell what’s going on.”

IPC Answers Call for Bridge Inspection

by

kavinusa

During the evening rush hour of August 1, 2007, a bridge supporting one of the busiest freeways in Minnesota unexpectedly collapsed, taking the lives of 13 people and injuring 145 more.1 To many leaders at the time, the Interstate 35W bridge disaster served as a wake-up call to the country’s deteriorating infrastructure. More than $100 million was ultimately paid out by the state and two contractors to survivors and families of the dead. Infrastructure Preservation Corporation (IPC) has an answer to this catastrophic problem in the form of new geophysical nondestructive inspection technology, leveraged through robotic systems.

Looking back over the last 50 years, such loss of life is not all that uncommon.2 In 1980, 35 people died when a freighter rammed one of the support columns of Tampa Bay’s Sunshine Skyway Bridge. In 1967, 32 vehicles plunged into the freezing Ohio River when the Silver Bridge between Point Pleasant, WV and Gallipolis, OH collapsed, taking the lives of 46 people”a 0.1-inch defect in a metal bar was indicated to be at fault.

Out of approximately 612,000 bridges in existence in the U.S., more than 55,000 of them are in need of repair3″and Americans cross these endangered structures 185 million times per day.

New solutions, such as that developed by IPC, points the way to saving countless lives”as well as billions in repairs”by isolating structural faults before they become serious issues.4 Robotic systems leverage geophysical nondestructive technology (NDT) protocols to, in effect, x-ray concrete and other infrastructure to identify early-stage deterioration, enabling recommendation of repairs before deterioration spreads and compromises the structure’s ability to carry its design loads. Proper diagnosis allows planning and repair of early-stage deterioration, which is also financially preferable, in that it prolongs infrastructure service life expectancy.

“Traditional infrastructure inspection methods are over 50 years old and are thus quite outdated,” said Doug Thaler, president of IPC. “They are manual in nature and often deliver subjective results. There are new solutions that provide quantitative data, allowing departments of transportation (DOTs) to better allocate existing maintenance budgets.”

IPC’s solutions, now patented or in patent pending status, constitute the first commercially viable robotic inspection methods in the industry. These technologies produce modern archived, quantitative inspection data that can help infrastructure asset managers to better manage preservation and extension of service life of critical infrastructure assets. About Infrastructure Preservation Corporation:

An infrastructure crisis of herculean proportions now exists in the U.S. At every level, the U.S. government is struggling with how to repair, replace and maintain the nation’s aging bridges, roads, water management systems and more. Infrastructure failures could have significant impacts on daily life if action is not taken. Municipal, state and federal departments of transportation (DOTs) do not have the funds to replace aging infrastructure and are looking for ways to prolong service life.

Infrastructure Preservation Corporation (IPC) is a robotics manufacturer and professional services engineering company that delivers infrastructure inspection services using reliable and accurate imaging based on geophysical nondestructive testing (NDT) and robotic technologies. Based in Clearwater, FL, IPC has developed its solutions and services to detect early-stage infrastructure degradation and deterioration in concrete and steel structures. From bridges to utility or communication towers and other public/private infrastructure, IPC technologies deliver “next generation” alternatives to disrupt markets that are still using manual inspection methods. In February 2017, the Iranian Chess Federation announced two teenage chess players, Dorsa Derakhshani and her younger brother Borna Derakhshani, were banned from representing the national team. The federation announced their decision although Dorsa Derakhshani had previously decided and informed the chess federation she did not wish to play for Iran.

Dorsa Derakhshani is currently 21 years old and holds the International Master (IM) as well as Woman Grand Master (WGM) titles. Her brother, Borna, plays for the English Federation and holds the FIDE Master title.

Dorsa Derakhshani was banned since she did not wear a hijab, an Islamic headscarf, while competing at the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival in January 2017. Under the laws of Islamic Republic of Iran, hijab is a mandatory dress code. Her brother Borna Deraskhsani was banned for playing against Israeli Grand Master (GM) Alexander Huzman at the same tournament. Iran does not recognise the existence of Israel, and previously, Irani athletes have avoided playing against Israeli athletes.

Mehrdad Pahlavanzadeh, the president of the country’s chess federation, explained the decision to ban the players saying, “As a first step, these two will be denied entry to all tournaments taking place in Iran and in the name of Iran, they will no longer be allowed the opportunity to be present on the national team.” ((fa))Farsi language: ?????? ????? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??? ????? ?? ?? ???? ???????? ?? ?? ????? ? ?? ??? ????? ?????? ??????? ????? ??????? ? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??????? ????. IM Dorsa Derakhshani, who currently studies at Saint Louis University in the United States and plays for the United States Chess Federation, discussed her chess career, time in Iran and the 2017 controversy, and her life in Saint Louis with a Wikinews correspondent.
